SCHOLARIUS, styled also HIEROMONACHUS, Συμεὼν ἱερομόναχος ὁ σχολάριος; a monk of the Byzantine empire, whose date is not known, except that he lived about or after the close of the eighth century. He composed a work entitled Κανόνες, Syntagma Canonum, extant in MS. at Vienna, containing the Canons ascribed to the Apostles and to the seven general councils. (Fabric. Biblioth.
