6. A Rhodian, was sent by his countrymen as ambassador to Rome, in B. C. 177, to obtain from the senate, if possible, a more favourable decree than that which had just pronounced the Lycians to have been assigned by Rome to the Rhodians, eleven years before, as allies rather than as subjects.
