(Ἱπποσθένης). Two or three Pythagorean philosophers of this name are mentioned. (Iamb. Vit. Pyth. 36.267; Fabric. Bibl. Graec. vol. i. p. 849.) The name also occurs in Stobaeus (Floril. Tit. 22.25. p. 188, ed. Gesner) according to the old reading, but the better reading is Ἱπποθόωντος [HIPPOTHOON].
