(Ἤμαθος), a son of Macedon and brother of Pierus, from whom Emathia, that is Macedonia, was believed to have derived its name. (Eustath ad Hom. p. 980.) The daughters of Pierus (the Pierides) are sometimes called after their uncle Emathides. (Ov Met. 5.669.)
