or HAMMONIUS, an ambassador of PTOLEMAEUS Auletes, who was sent to Rome B. C. 56 to seek assistance against the Alexandrians, who had opposed the king. (Cic. Fam. 1.1.) He is perhaps the same person as the Ammonius who is spoken of as one of the agents of Cleopatra in B. C. 44. (Ad Att. 15.15.)
