Cly'mene3. A relative of Menelaus and a companion of Helena, together with whom she was carried off
by Paris. (Hom. Il. 3.144; Dictys Cret. 1.3, 5.13.) After the
taking of Troy, when the booty was distributed, Clymene was given to Acamas. She was
represented as a captive by Polygnotus in the Lesche of Delphi. (Paus.
10.26.1; comp. Ov. Ep. 17.267.) There are several
other mythical personages of this name. (Hom. Il. 18.47; Hyg. Fab. 71; Apollod. 3.2.1,
&c.; Paus. 10.24.3.)
