or JOLAUS, a Greek writer of unknown date, and probably a freedman of some Roman, was the author of a work on Phoenicia (Φοινικικά) in three books at least. (Steph. Byz. s. vv. Ἂκη, Ἰουδαία, Δῶρος; Etym. s. v. Γάδειπα.) This appears to be the same Joläus, who wrote a work on the Peloponnesus (Πελοποννησιακά, Schol. ad Nicand. Ther. 521) ; he spoke in one of his works of the city Lampe in Crete. (Steph. Byz. s. v. Λάμπη.)
