Bubulcus

2. C.JuniusBrutusBubulcus, C. F. C. N., consul B. C. 291 (Liv. 17.6), and again in 277. In the latter year, he and his colleague P. Cornelius Rufinus were sent into Samnium, and sustained a repulse in an attack upon the Samnites in the mountains. Their loss upon this occasion led to a quarrel between the consuls, who separated in consequence. Zonaras says, that Bubulcus remained in Samnium, while Rufinus marched into Lucania and Bruttium: but, according to the Capitoline Fasti, which ascribe a triumph over the Lucanians and Bruttians to Bubulcus, the contrary must have been the case. (Zonar. 8.6.)
