Bubulcus2. C.JuniusBrutusBubulcus, C. F. C. N., consul B. C.
291 (Liv. 17.6), and again in 277. In the latter year, he and
his colleague P. Cornelius Rufinus were sent into Samnium, and sustained a repulse in an
attack upon the Samnites in the mountains. Their loss upon this occasion led to a quarrel
between the consuls, who separated in consequence. Zonaras says, that Bubulcus remained in
Samnium, while Rufinus marched into Lucania and Bruttium: but, according to the Capitoline
Fasti, which ascribe a triumph over the Lucanians and Bruttians to Bubulcus, the contrary must
have been the case. (Zonar. 8.6.)
