Unless we attribute some inaccuracies in metre and some peculiarities in phraseology to a corrupt text, we must conclude that he belongs to a late epoch, but the piece is throughout replete with grace and spirit, and presents a series of brilliant pictures. Wernsdorf imagines, that for Reposianus we ought to read Nepotianus, merely because the former designation does not elsewhere occur; but this conjecture being altogether unsupported by evidence, will be received with favour by but few.
