      occur frequently under the early emperors. The principal cognomens of the Nonii are <hi rend="smallcaps">ASPRENAS</hi>, <hi rend="smallcaps">BALBUS</hi>, <hi rend="smallcaps">GALLUS</hi>, <hi rend="smallcaps">QUINCTILIANUS</hi>, and <hi rend="smallcaps">SUFENAS</hi>,
      or <hi rend="smallcaps">SUFFENAS</hi>; but as one or two persons of the name of Asprenas are
      omitted under that head, they are given below under <hi rend="smallcaps">NONIUS.</hi> The only
