      in <date when-custom="-167">B. C. 167</date>, and was in consequence afterwards condemned at Rome.
      Livy calls him <hi rend="ital">praeses,</hi> a term which is applied in later times by the
      jurists to a governor of a province. Whether, however, Baebius had the government of Aetolia,
